White was thrust right into the action as a true freshman at UAB, starting seven of nine games. He finished third on the team with 14 catches for 236 yards (16.9 avg) and two touchdowns, adding 42 yards on a pair of kickoff returns. He would start every game at the "X" receiver position the next three years, leading the team in receptions in each of those seasons. As a sophomore, he snatched 39 passes for 580 yards (14.9 avg.) and three touchdowns, blocked a punt that he returned 14 yards and returned three kickoffs for 34 yards (11.3 avg.).
