Veteran TE Stewart Among First Roster Cuts
Wednesday is the deadline for teams to cut their rosters down to 75 players, but with today's roster moves, the Raiders have met that limit. Teams now have until Saturday to make their final roster cuts to 53 players.
Stewart, a nine-year NFL veteran, has spent the past three seasons with the Oakland Raiders, primarily serving as a backup tight end and a solid contributor on special teams. While playing in 47 of 48 games, Stewart only managed 21 catches for 159 yards. Stewart is probably most known for serving as the team's player representative to the NFLPA.
With Stewart now gone, second-year man Brandon Myers is second on the tight end depth chart behind Zach Miller. Behind Myers, veteran John Owens and the recently-signed Eric Butler will also battle for a roster spot.
The team also released undrafted rookie free agents FB Chane Moline and OG Allen Smith, and reserve wide receiver Paul Hubbard.
