Jano, Lechler named midseason All-Pro

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski and punter Shane Lechler, who have provided most of the highlights for the Raiders this season, were selected to the Pro Football Weekly midseason All-Pro team.

The Raiders haven't had a lot of positives, what with a 2-6 record, their coach being hammered at by ESPN and a long list of injuries that decimated the offense early in the year. So when Sebastian Janikowski and Shane Lechler were picked as part of Pro Football Weekly's midseason All-Pro team, someone should stand up and take notice that things in Oakland might not be as bad as they appear.

Janikowski has been the Raiders most consistent and reliable scoring threat this year and is having the best season of his career. The former first-round draft pick has not missed a field goal attempt in 12 tries this year, is 6-for-6 on extra points and has eight touchbacks.

Lechler, Oakland's four-time Pro Bowl punter who signed a hefty contract extension in the offseason, is having another stellar year. His 52.3 average tops all NFL punters and would be a career high for Lechler, while his 44.9-yard net average is second only to Washington's Sam Paulescu. He's also on pace for 28 punts downed inside the 20-yard line, which would be the second-best mark of his outstanding career.

As bad as the Raiders' season has gone so far, it'd be far worse if it weren't for the two special teams stars.

The rest of the PFW midseason All-Pro team, which includes former Raider cornerback Charles Woodson, looks like this: QB Peyton Manning (Colts), RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings), RB Chris Johnson (Titans), WR Reggie Wayne (Colts), WR Andre Johnson (Texans), TE Dallas Clark (Colts), C Nick Mangold (Jets), OG Jahri Evans (Saints), OG Ben Grubbs (Ravens), OT Ryan Clady (Broncos), OT Michael Roos (Titans), DE Jared Allen (Vikings), DE Dwight Freeney (Colts), DT Darnell Dockett (Cardinals), DT Haloti Ngata (Ravens), OLB James Harrison (Steelers), OLB Elvis Dumervil (Broncos), ILB Patrick Willis (49ers), CB Darrelle Revis (Jets), CB Charles Woodson (Packers), S Darren Sharper (Saints), S Brandon Meriweather (Patriots), PR Josh Cribbs (Browns), KR Percy Harvin (Vikings), Head Coach Josh McDaniels (Broncos).
