Raiders sign QB Frye

The Raiders have added yet another quarterback to the mix, signing free agent Charlie Frye.

Frye was a one-time starter for Cleveland who gave the Browns a spark in 2006 when he started 13 games and passed for nearly 2,500 yards. He hasn’t done much since, however, starting just two games since.

He was traded to Seattle for a sixth-round draft pick in 2007 and spent last season buried on the Seahawks depth chart behind Matt Hasselback and Seneca Wallace.

Frye’s signing by the Raiders was first reported by Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times and is listed on the team’s website, though no official announcement was made by the team.

Frye becomes the sixth quarterback on Oakland’s roster behind starter JaMarcus Russell, Jeff Garcia, Andrew Walter, Bruce Gradkowski and Danny Southwick.
