For the third time in four years the Raiders will open the season at home on Monday Night Football. Oakland also grabbed a spot playing on Thanskgiving Day, as the NFL released its list of prime time television games for the 2009 campaign.

The Raiders will host San Diego at 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 14 as part of the of the league’s Kickoff Weekend. Oakland’s game against the Chargers will follow the Buffalo-New England game as part of the Monday Night package.

Oakland and San Diego also met on a Monday night season-opener in 2006. The Chargers won that game handily 27-0.

Later in the season the Raiders will travel to play at Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. It’s the first time since 1970 that the Raiders will play on the holiday, one of three on the television schedule that day. Detroit hosts Green Bay in the first game followed by the Raiders-Cowboys, with the Giants and Denver playing in the nightcap.

The rest of the schedule will be announced in April.
