The Oakland Raiders have signed cornerback/kick returner Darrien Gordon and released defensive back Carey Scott.
Oakland’s starting cornerback tandem of Tory James and Charles Woodson were both listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Miami.
Gordon, who played for Oakland from 1999-2000, was with Green Bay in 2002 until being released earlier this week.
Gordon, a veteran of three Super Bowls (1994, 1997-98), led the NFC in punt returns with a 14.1-yard average last season while with Atlanta and also previously led the AFC twice (1994 and 1996). Gordon has amassed 3,601 career yards, ranking third on the NFL's all-time punt return list, and six touchdowns on 314 punt returns (11.5 average).He has Bay Area roots beyond the Raiders. Gordon starred as a college player at Stanford before San Diego drafted him in the first round by San Diego of the 1993 draft. He played three years for the Chargers (1993-94, 1996), followed by two seasons in Denver (1997-98), two with the Raiders (1999-2000), last season in Atlanta and this year with Green Bay.
