The Oakland Raiders will bring in a prominent wide receiver to Alameda for a visit on Friday, in preparation for the NFL Draft.

Scout.com's Adam Caplan reports that wide receiver Donnie Avery will visit the Oakland Raiders on Friday.

Looking to become the first wide receiver drafted from Houston since 1992 when John Brown was selected by the Chicago Bears, Avery has been compared to Joey Galloway by several scouts.

It should be no surprise that Avery is coming to Oakland, as he is considered one of the fastest wideouts coming out this season.

"I have big hands," Avery told Scout.com's Ed Thompson. "I guess I'm an average-sized guy, but I can still get away from the best of the cornerbacks. My speed is a very good part of my ability to separate and that's what I do best."

He sees himself as a player who can not only contribute in the passing game, but also on special teams.

His versatility, despite his 5-foot-10 size, could make him an interesting pick for Oakland.

"Every team wants me to play special teams and I love special teams. I know I'm not going to go into a ball club as a rookie and be the number one guy, so my deal is to get on special teams. In college, I played everything from punt return to punt and kickoff coverage to kickoff return. If I have to hold the ball on a field goal, I will do it just to be on the field."

NFL Draft expert Chris Steuber ranked him as the 10th-best receiver in the country coming out. A visit may not guarantee a draft selection, but it is the first step in the process.
