| Raiders land Javon Walker | ||||

The Oakland Raiders caught a big fish on Tuesday, grabbing wide receiver Javon Walker - keeping him in the division to torment the Denver Broncos, presumably for the next six years, as per the terms of the contract. | |||

After losing Jerry Porter this off-season, the Raiders signed Javon Walker to take his place. A towering presence on the field, Walker - a former first-round pick - topped 1,000 yards in his last two healthy seasons. With 30 touchdowns over his last three healthy seasons, Walker is a formidable red-zone presence. Staying on the field, however, has been a problem for the talented 6-foot-3 wideout. He missed eight games in 2007 and played in just one contest in 2005 for Green Bay. If he can stay between the hash marks, Walker provides the Raiders with a legitimate number one receiver that will allow JaMarcus Russell with an outlet, aiding his growth. The deal is reportedly worth $55 million with $16 million guaranteed. |
