, who started three games for the Raiders in 2006, was released after reaching an injury settlement with the team.
Lee injured his right knee during practice Tuesday and had to be helped off the field. The team never announced the exact nature of Lee's injury.
The Raiders also announced that they had received a roster exemption for tight end Randal Williams, who has not been with the team since Sunday due to personal issues, according to coach Lane Kiffin.
In addition, Oakland signed offensive linemen Adrian Klemm, in addition to Jesse Boone, previously announced here at SilverandBlack.com.
Klemm, a second-round draft pick of New England's in 2000. He started eight games for Green Bay in 2006.
Other notes from Wednesday's practices:
Daunte Culpepper had a slow go of things during the morning workout but started to find his groove in the evening practice, highlighted by a 47-yard touchdown pass to Will Buchanon.
Chris Carr, Doug Gabriel, Chris Johnson and Johnnie Lee Higgins all took turns on the kickoff return unit. It's the first time in camp that the Raiders have practiced this part of special teams, though it's still too early to give an advantage.
Running back Dominic Rhodes returned to practice and gave the offense a lift with his blocking. During drills pitting backs against linebackers, Rhodes hammered into linebacker Kirk Morrison and held the second-year pro at bay. Head coach Lane Kiffin was so pleased with the match-up that he had the two go at it again. Morrison won the second and the third, though it was close. The last matchup gave the defense a 7-6 edge in the drill.
Running back LaMont Jordan practiced in the morning but was held out of the evening practice with a sore lower back. Linebacker Thomas Howard went out to both practices but was limited in the evening session after sustaining an unknown injury, though it is not serious.
The signing of Daunte Culpepper might have been the biggest move the Raiders made but it wasn't the team's only roster transaction Wednesday. Oakland said good-bye to running back ReShard Lee on a busy day.
