Raiders sign mammoth guard

Posted Apr 20, 2006

The Oakland Raiders supplied much needed depth to their offensive line on Thursday when they signed Kelvin Garmon, a hulking 350-pound lineman who has plenty of starts under his belt.

Kelvin Garmon was originally a 7th round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1999 draft from Baylor University.

He has started in 50 games since first getting playing time with the Boys in 2001. Since then, Garmon has been seen in San Diego and Cleveland.

He played well in San Diego but struggled through injuries in Cleveland and was termed a dissapointment.

Surprisingly agile for his weight, the 6-foot-2 Garmon will look to add not only bulk but also skill to the Raiders line.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
