Head Coach Tom Cable announced on Wednesday that they have released wide receiver/return specialist Yamon Figurs to make room for offensive lineman Erik Pears.
Against the Titans on Sunday, Figurs caught two passes for 17 yards. He also had five kick returns for 105 yards and a punt return for 10 yards. Figurs was unable to finish the game due to a stinger.
Pears was released last Wednesday to make room for reserve defensive tackle Jay Alford.
Cable also said that Johnnie Lee Higgins and Jacoby Ford would take over kickoff and punt return duties, although he did not specify who would play where.
In other transaction news, the team announced on Monday that they have reached injury settlements with veteran defensive end Jay Richardson and defensive end Alex Daniels.
Richardson was a sixth round pick in 2007. In three seasons with the Raiders, Richardson finished with 82 tackles, seven sacks and a safety.
Daniels was signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason. The former Cincinnati Bearcat made news during training camp for his move from defensive end to fullback and then back to defensive end.
The two are now able to sign with any team as free agents.
